After focussing solely on the launch of my video production partnership out of university, I re-discovered my passion for painting with a visit to numerous galleries of local and famous impressionists in the UK, East Coast, Kleinburg and Mississauga, where I am presently based. The strong emotion conveyed with bold colour and confident brush strokes (particularly in the works of the Group of Seven, Monet, Van Gogh, Edgar Payne, and Nikolai Pozdneev) fueled that bellyfire I could no longer ignore. Since then, I have focussed on plein air (painting outdoors from nature) and still life works in oil paint on birch panel and canvas, with the ambition to create an authentic representation of light while arousing emotion of the initial inspiration through immediate, bold brush strokes. I get a lot of enjoyment out of trying to capture the subtleties of light and colour this way. To me it’s a perfect exercise of presence and perception.
